Judith and Roy's Families report Print
Friday, 29 July 2005
Report of Judith and Roy’s very busy time visiting some of our families:
 Sunday
Bucharest - visit to the Romanian Village Museum after a
few short stops to take photos downtown Bucharest
(People’s Palace, The Romanian Orthodox Headquarters,
fountains etc…)

Monday
–Cristina  and her family: she looks happy to
have home, for a while, both parents Victor and Nina.
Alin, her brother, was glad to start his summer
holiday. He has become a handsome young man. Judith suggested
further therapy for Cristina. Victor had already bought
the materials for Viorica’s roof.
Shopping: wooden items, glasses.
-Toma and his family: Laur was not at home, but at work in
his office. Toma is very happy now, as he is pleased with
his new leg. He has good mobility. He can walk and
drive very well now. Laur’s mother is also better due
to the special therapy she received at the hospital.
Toma gave us the sponsorship money and we distributed
them directly to almost all our members, the ones we
have visited.
-Tereza and Silvia were fine. Silvia was studying for
her exams. Tereza was feeling better and starting from
tomorrow she will go to the hospital for some tests to
see how her Lupus illness has evolved. Cezar succeeded
to take the driving licence exam in Spain and has
found a job.

Tuesday:
-Valentina, Ioana and Eliza are all fine,
except Ioana who had another a bad cold. They thanked us
for the radio-cassette player they received from
Network Gloria and also for the CDs with music from
Roy’s daughter. The kitchen and Ioana’s bedroom are in
a very bad state and if possible Valentina would need
aprox 120pounds for repainting it.
-Elisabeta Andreescu is
fine. She didn’t finish her two houses in the
countryside due to the lack of funds. These would have housed youngsters with special needs.
The workshop school still exists, though at a smaller scale now and also the activities are completely
reduced now due to the holidays.

-Bogdan  –a very handsome fair haired, but so disabled 25
year-old man with severe urinary incontinence and
cerebral palsy. They need a possible sponsor for
plastic urine bags and stoppers and incontinence pads.
He is so loved by this mother and his step father.

-Melania, David and Eric are fine. The special chair
and wheelchair from Victor are good for David. He
still needs a special buggy to use on the street. Dana
gave  Melania a list of firms and Melania found an
suitable one and has already applied for financial assistance from the State. David
has activites and physiotherapisty at home in order
to improve and he has made a lot of progress.

Wednesday:
-In the morning we went to Cristina N. and gave
her the sponsorship money.
-Then we bought very cheap wooden eggs and traditional
dishes  from a special fair to help raise funds in England.
-Mariana Visan and her daughter Anca from Calarasi: a
family we had yet to visit.  Anca has physical
disabilities. She is very clever and works at the
computer with her legs. She is writing a novel about
her life. There blossomed the idea to put in touch by
e-mail and internet all the members with people from
abroad who have similar problems or just pen friends.
Anca needs a special device to improve her position in
the special wheelchair and for her legs.
-In the evening we met a colleague friend of Iacob
A. and sent him the sponsorship money. He
thanked you a lot, when he called next day and spoke
with Judith and Roy.

Thursday
-Zimnicea
We had a very busy day as we managed to make a lot of
visits:
-Claudiu who is so happy to get out from the
house with easy access into the yard. He is happy to
receive the new electric wheelchair which is a true
blessing for him.
-Alin  looks very tired
-Alexandra  and mother are fine. We will give
her the basic computer Silvia had from the Network and
we think it might be suitable for Alexandra, who cannot walk.
-Ionut  and family: his condition is now much
better due to the help he received from Network Gloria
and his entire family is happy. Ionut doesn’t need
crutches and the electric buggy anymore.  He is starting to
manage walking by himself, which is very good for him,
and is able to help Alin S.  get out of the house
and meet friends downtown.
-Valentin  and his mother: he is a very special
member and is battling on despite his disability. His work in the construction trade is sporadic
and he thanked us so much  for the help received from Network Gloria.
-Ovidiu . and family: his father has a rare
syndrome, too. Ovidiu needs very much a sponsor for
his medicines and also needs a special crutch to help
him to walk outside of the flat.
The brother and sister with TB: Due to the help of
Network Gloria their condition improved. They
repainted the flat and also they look better than last
time.
-Gabriela  (cystic fibrosis). The beautiful girl
needs information and maybe help to find and buy a
medicine for her syndrome. It seems to be very
expensive.
-Andreea  and family: We found a happy family
(mother and two daughters) happy due to Network Gloria.
They now have a newly repainted flat, electricity and
they were so happy that they cried.
Alexandria
Friday
Alexandria
Florin M., a special member of  Network Gloria -so full of life and so dynamic despite the amputation of four limbs,
was happy to see us all there in his flat. He thanked us for the help he receives from the Network, which has improved
his entire life.  However, further sponsorship is necessary to help him with heating, as  his movement is very limited.

Rosiorii de VEde
-Mirabela’s mother was very happy to see us. Mirabela
was in Bucharest to take her exams. We managed to
call her in the evening and spoke with her, as she is
such a special friend of Network Gloria, helping by interpreting.
-       Haralambie, Mirabela’s neighbour: his
condition has improved due to the Network. One year
ago he managed to go to Mangalia for special therapy. His
mother also works with him at home. Now he needs
another set of different therapies in Mangalia and we have
already sent him the sum he needs.  We hope this will help him to regain some movement.

Saturday
-visit to Slanic, the house, the salt mines.
-Ploiesti
We visited the SOS Radio station, the new church and
we met a lot of people from the big group brother
Mihai has. We discussed about the transport and
brother Mihai offered us his so precious help and
experience, including the distribution of the goods.
He also gave us help in order to put in touch certain
parents from the Network: Mariana V. for Anca and Mr Z. for
Ovidiu, in order to make the special supports needed through a
firm from another town, run by a Christian man from
Brother Mihai’s group. We also put in touch by e-mail
and Internet the members of Brother Mihai’s foundation
and our members to share information and experience.
